Sounds better than last night so I guess thats the nature of this beast of a dac. Left it streaming all night and listening now. As such it is an ideal application to use with the Naim DAC-V1. Sent Alvin from Vinshine Audio a message with my concerns and he explained that "it needs to be plugged in 10 days for critical listening" Reading this my jaw sort of dropped. Foobar2000 is a freeware audio player for Windows which supports bit perfect playback of audio files (including high sample rate, 24 bit and DSD files) when used with an appropriate audio playback device that supports exclusive access mode. Listened for a couple of hours and feel SQ is just okay. Empy's back on my head and noticed an improvement. Installed the proper drivers on my windows 10 machine and plugged that in. Came back later and noticed in my Mac Mini audio midi setup it said it was playing at 32 bits. Fine, maybe it will sound better in a bit. I remembered reading that an R2R dac needs to be left on for a while to warm up. I presume it's bit-perfect (well, as perfect as Tidal is delivering) but interestingly is not in exclusive mode - if I get an incoming message, I'll hear the notification through the Hiby. Now it just sounded bad.įrustrated, I left it on with music playing through my headphones and walked away for a bit.
