![]() The nice thing about Ritual Caster, is that if you come across a scroll/spell book, it does not care if it is an arcane or divine version (if there is such a dividing rule in 5e), but it must be on the Class Spell List that you chose. The Bards Magical Secret does not in any way modify the Class Spell List. The feat Ritual Caster states you choose one class and you can add spells from that Class Spell List to your ritual book. Of course this is all conjecture and is completely up to whatever the DM determines is acceptable, but I did think there is a good case for arguing this loophole for Bards! Rary's Telepathic Bond: Level 5(10th Level Bard)Ĭommune with Nature: Level 5(10th Level Bard)Ĭontact Other Plane: Level 5(10th Level Bard)ĭrawmij's Instant Summons:Level 6 (12th level Bard) Tenser's Floating Disk: Level 1(6th level Bard) Purify Food and Drink: Level 1 (6th Level Bard) Locate Animal's or Plants: Level 2 (6th Level Bard) Leomund's Tiny Hut: Level 3(6th Level Bard) With this I have provided a list of all rituals Bards can learn without the spells counting towards their 22-24 maximum amount of spells they can learn, all sorted by alphabetical order as well as the level which Bards can start copying down these spells into ritual books.Ĭomprehend Language: Level 1(2nd Level Bard)ĭetect Poison and Disease: Level 1(6th Level Bard) Within these parameters one could argue that Bards, at level 6 with College of Lore or level 10 as a normal class feature, have the availability to learn any classes ritual through Magic Secrets and therefore learn all ritual spells within the D&D 5e PHB at level 12(double the highest current ritual spell level) as long as they have said ritual in addition to having the materials to cast it. I think this because ritual caster says that the user of a ritual book can cast any spell with these parameters.ġ.)The spell is half their level or below.Ģ.)The spell can be learned by their class naturally.ģ.)A certain amount of time and money is spent copying the ritual into the ritual book.Ĥ.)The caster meets the spell's other requirements (I.E. I am delighted and intrigued by these uses, I'm just curious about what other people think.I was thinking and I thought that Bards can technically learn any ritual spell. Any reason you would not permit that? How might you rule it? The same player, as a different character under a different DM, used Meld Into Stone to enter a Stone Golem. Sure there is some danger, but how often do large rocks get randomly crushed? * devious plotting * It is not a concentration spell, but is there any reason you would not allow this to happen? One of my players asked if they could long rest while melded into stone. If expelled, you fall prone in an unoccupied space closest to where you first entered." The stone's complete destruction (or transmutation into a different substance) expels you and deals 50 bludgeoning damage to you. "Minor physical damage to the stone doesn't harm you, but its partial destruction or a change in its shape (to the extent that you no longer fit within it) expels you and deals 6d6 bludgeoning damage to you. You can use your movement to leave the stone where you entered it, which ends the spell. You remain aware of the passage of time and can cast spells on yourself while merged in the stone. "While merged with the stone, you can't see what occurs outside it, and any Wisdom (Perception) checks you make to hear sounds outside it are made with disadvantage. Nothing of your presence remains visible or otherwise detectable by nonmagical senses. Using your movement, you step into the stone at a point you can touch. "You step into a stone object or surface large enough to fully contain your body, melding yourself and all the equipment you carry with the stone for the duration. How might you rule interesting uses of Meld Into Stone (3rd Level, Transmutation, Ritual, Action to cast, 8 hour duration) ![]()
